These side effects are caused by drospirenone, the synthetic progestin used in Ocella, as well as in Yasmin and YAZ. Like Yasmin and YAZ, the risk of blood clots is twice as great with Ocella compared to older forms of birth control pills, and Ocella has the added risk of gallbladder disease and hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels).

Lawsuits are being filed across the country against the manufacturer of Ocella for failing to warn of these increased health risks and for placing a defective, dangerous product on the market. The attorneys at DeCarli Law are dedicated to helping these women.
