YAZ/Yasmin Lawsuits

Because of the dangerous and potentially deadly side effects of YAZ, Yasmin, Zarah and Ocella birth control, women throughout the country have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of these drugs.  These YAZ/Yasmin lawsuits are pending in various courts throughout the country.

The YAZ/Yasmin Federal Multidistrict Litigation (MDL)

YAZ side effect lawsuits and Yasmin side effect lawsuits filed in any federal court in the United States are consolidated for pretrial matters before the Honorable David R. Herndon, Chief Judge of the Southern District of Illinois.  YAZ cases were assigned to Judge Herndon after a “Multidistrict Litigation” for YAZ was created.  Multidistrict Litigation is commonly referred to as an “MDL.”

An MDL is not a class action.  An MDL is a special legal procedure used in United States Federal Courts to speed the handling of complex cases.  After an MDL has been formed, when those types of cases are filed in any federal court in the United States, they are automatically transferred to the MDL court for pretrial proceedings.  Later, the cases are sent back to the court in which they were filed for jury trial.  This means that no matter where you live, if you file your YAZ or Yasmin lawsuit in the federal district where you live, it will initially be transferred to the Southern District of Illinois.  Later, after pretrial matters are complete, your case will be transferred back to your local district court for trial.

No matter where you live in the United States, your YAZ side effect lawsuit can be filed in federal court.  The YAZ lawyers and YAZ attorneys at DeCarli Law can help you determine if this is the best approach for you.

California YAZ Lawsuits, California Yasmin Lawsuits

California state courts, like federal courts, have a procedure that consolidates similar complex lawsuits before a single California Superior Court.  Again, these are not class actions.  Each person must prove up their own case, including their individual damages.

All of the YAZ attorneys and YAZ lawyers of DeCarli law are licensed to practice law in California.  Sometimes it can be preferable for California residents to file drug side effect lawsuits in California courts instead of federal courts, depending on the court in which a case is consolidated.  But each case is unique.  If you have suffered a YAZ side effect or Yasmin side effect, the lawyers of DeCarli Law will study the specific facts of your case, and determine which court is best for your case.

YAZ/Yasmin Lawsuits in Other Jurisdictions

YAZ lawsuits and Yasmin lawsuits filed in Pennsylvania have been consolidated before a single court in that state.  Consolidation proceedings are also underway in other states.  If you have been injured by YAZ or Yasmin, the attorneys at DeCarli Law will analyze your case to determine whether you can assert your claim in these different jurisdictions, and more importantly, if doing so would be in your best interest.

No matter where you live, the YAZ attorneys and YAZ lawyers at DeCarli Law can assist you in obtaining compensation for your injuries from YAZ, Yasmin, Zarah or Ocella side effects.  If necessary and it’s best for your case, DeCarli Law will associate with attorneys in other jurisdictions, at no additional cost to you, to maximize your recovery.
